Hayley Westenra and World famous operatic tenor Rolando Villazon featured strongly in the 2011 Royal Variety Performance which was broadcast on ITV1 and ITV1 HD yesterday evening at peak viewing time, to a TV audience up of to eight million.

They took part in a dramatic three part sequence entitled A Celebration of The Movies; Rolando opened the set with Charlie Chaplin's Smile, followed by Hayley singing Gabriel's Oboe (Whispers In A Dream) and finally, the two of them sung Tonight from West Side Story, from a high balcony on the stage.

In addition, Hayley had the honour of singing the National Anthem before HRH Princess Anne to start the show.

At the original performance on December 5th (see our earlier story), Hayley and Rolando sung before the interval but for the TV broadcast, they were 'promoted' to the final half hour of the show, which lasted for over two and a half hours. They performed immediately before the marvellous Tony Bennett, who was top of the bill.
